PIT BARREL COOKER TURKEY LEGS RECIPE
______________________________________________________________

INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
– Turkey legs
– Extra Virgin Olive Oil
– BBQ Rub
– BBQ Sauce

THE METHOD:

Step #1
Begin by brushing a light coating of oil onto both sides of your turkey legs, this will help your rub stick to the surface of your leg quarters. Next apply a liberal amount of bbq rub similar to what you might use with chicken or ribs. We want to blend the richness of the turkey legs with the sweetness of the rub.

Step #2
Next set up the Pit Barrel Cooker for cooking between 275-300 degrees. This is the typical average tempreture of the Pit Barrel Cooker when set up properly. Once set up with some wood for smoking place the Turkey Leg Quarters on to the grill and to start smoking. Until your Turkey legs reach an internal tempreture of 170 degrees.

Step #3
At 170 degree open the lid of the Pit Barrel Cooker and brush a thin layer of bbq sauce to both sides and flipping the turkey legs so the skin is now face down. You want to cook these Smoked Turkey Legs for about 5-10 minutes longer. When doing this last step keep the bars removed and place the lid while leaving a 1/2 inch cracked open lid. This will help increase the temperatures of the Pit Barrel helping set the sauce as well as making the skin perfectly bit through..

With all that done, remove them from the Pit Barrel Cooker and serve to your hungry guests!

Enjoy!
