I have a house full of sweet potato haters! I made this and they loved it! Had to sub ground turkey for the sausage due to some food/herb allergies with sausage, but turned out great and was told I could make it again. Thanks!

Chef Tom, great stuff, only thing I think this was missing is a touch more acid. Next time you whip this up, add a dollop of sour cream. Well done, non-standard bbq recipe!

The sausage isn’t necessary, but it adds an extra layer of savory flavor. What I’d do is brown and reserve the crumbled sausage and let eaters choose whether or not to sprinkle some on top, which would also add a nice texture contrast. Same would go for bacon crumbles.

So I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but is the sausage necessary? As in, is it's purpose to balance out the sweetness from the potatoes, or is the soup just fine without it? Great looking recipe regardless, you do amazing work!
