As most of you already know my local Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar General or Walmart stores are my own personal adult playgrounds. I shop at these stores to find food that is generally highly processed, full of fillers and simply bad for us to eat regularly! Meat, vegetables, canned food, frozen food, refrigerated food, boxed food, vegan food, vegetarian food and all sorts of prepared foods, if it’s cheap and questionable I will do a taste test and food review on it! I also show you these foods are no bargain like these discount stores and manufacturers lead you to believe. I do this to show you that fresh foods are not only healthier, but they’re also cheaper than these so called bargain foods. So far I haven’t gotten sick, but some of these foods are certainly questionable and have come close to making me sick.

Same here, Larry, I'm 61 and until the second half of the 70s I thought that chili was spaghetti in tomato soup….. my mom and dad couldn't afford to feed us 5 kids meat every night lol. But, we always had a roof over our head and enough food in our stomachs and heat in the winter and clothes on our backs, even if they were hand-me-downs. I swear, nobody ever worked as hard as my Mom and Dad.

Fry the hot dogs to a nice brown, before adding to the beans, that should have been tweeked with some dark brown sugar, a tablespoon of mustard, diced onion, and a dollop of YOUR favorite bbq sauce-Like Sweet Baby Ray's- Then finish your recipe-

9 dollars to feed 4 people? You got to be fucking kidding me.. this whole "eat what you can afford" shit is just a scapegoat to eat like a fatass. I can make a perfectly nutritional balanced and delicious healthy meal for the exact price if not less. There is no excuse to eat this way in the name of being poor it's simply not true and is just an excuse to be lazy and eat like shit.. stay juicy my friends

My favorite kinda sammich growing up was a fried spam sammich, and a fried bologna sammich. I didnt grow up poor or anything. I actually grew up fairly well off, my mom being able to be a stay at home mom, and my dad working. I guess i grew up well off. But i always loved those kinda sammiches for lunch.

I’m not white. Nor lived in a trailer. We did live in a studio apartment. And had similar recipes. And i gotta say, to this day, i still make my “grilled” cheese sandwiches in the microwave; I still prefer my hot dogs on sandwich bread, and I like my potted meat sandwiches. We have a bit more now, but we don’t forget and are still part of the working class.

Best memory I have as a kid involving food is coming home to cheap hot chocolate and buttered toast with sprinkled sugar on top. 🙂

Every definition for redneck you gave is factually incorrect. The term originated during the battle of Blair mountain in wv during the largest labor uprising in America history. The coal miners led by bill blizzard wore red handkerchiefs around their necks to distinguish themselves from coal company gun thugs. Redneck is a hard working man who does what is necessary for his family. Almost every trendy modern definition is derogatory. And they are not viney weenies they are vienna sausages as in the city vienna

Beans and cornbread is the best staple ever when you're poor. We always had bacon, eggs, beans, cornmeal, and milk…..and we always had beans and cornbread now you can make a whole big pot for under 5 bucks. Now that's cheap, filling, and good

Ask kurt cobain what a redneck is and he would tell u they are a stereotype, he was right. Rednecks were too stereotyped while the working class is just hardworking people trying to make it in society. Love your vids larry! Keep it up

Instead of baked beans use ranch style beans or wolf chili. My Mom would make what she called cowboy stew, HB meat, ranch style beans, tomato sauce, with strips of tortilla mixed in and covered in cheese. Damn, getting hungry just thinking about it.
