I love red eye gravy. I add brown sugar, or either cane or sorghum syrup, instead of white sugar. Yours did look good though.
Very interesting. I’m from NJ so I’ve never heard of this.
Not the red eye gravy I grew up on in TN. Ours was ham grease and coffee only and it was thin and red woth grease droplets floating on it. Not this thick chocolate stuff with sugar. Good try though.
That's not red eye gravy.
Not a huge fan of grits, but I fucking LOVE red-eye gravy.
Crap video
Am I to assume at some point you poured the gravy off and then fried the eggs?
i grew up in Alabama and have made this many time and never do I use store bought biscuits they are always home made always! my Grandmother would kill me if I ever did that! hee hee
Are you from South Carolina? I love red eye gravy with grits. I mix it into some good grits & butter, then I top it with corned beef hash and onions.
Love it! This is one of the many southern delicacies I grew up on!
Yuck ??
When my parents made it in the South, they used only water, the drippings, and coffee.
MoMA's homemade biscuits we also made tomatoe gravy
Boiling the ham also helps
I thank you for the redeye gravy recipe. Can't wait to try it out.
Looks awesome. I'm not from the south but I love red eye gravy!
I love country ham and red eye gravy. My mom made it when I was young and living at home, a long time ago. I haven't had any good red eye gravy in years.
Good on scrambled eggs too.
Good Breakfast ?
Damn that looks good!
I love grits!
All that trouble to cook from scratch, and then you go and make biscuits from a tube? Doesn't make sense.
This is the second red-eye gravy recipe in a row I've seen on YouTube that adds sugar to the mix. Honestly I don't think sugar is part of the recipe. As far as I know, it's just ham drippings and coffee.
Use here in TN don't know what that is. We lost our southernesd
Mr. Wolfe what coffee would be the best, espresso or just regular coffee in the gravy.
prolly a good thing i don't know where you live, 'cause you'd find me on your porch every morning waitin' for breakfast, like a stray cat. LOL
Does anyone in Texas know where to get a country ham? I’m in Austin, but will travel far to get one!
Country ham and redeye gravy are just right.
It's really easy to make that country ham, or Canadian bacon. Pork loin + Morton tender quick + 5 days. The recipe is on the Morton website, it's delicious.
