WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO CLEAN YOUR BBQ
1inch putty knife
1 inch razor
sponge
#0000 Wool scrub pads
Degreaser
Dish soap

STEP #1
Remove both grates and put off to the side. Begin to remove the grease and gunk buildup using the plastic putty knife. Once you have removed as much as you can with that, switch to the razor blade to remove any tough and stuck on sections. Repeat this step for the lid until you have all the hardened great deposits removed.

SETP #2
With the grease removed, spray both the main bowl as well as the lid with degreaser and let it soak for a couple minutes. After a few minutes spray again and begin to rub the degreaser around using your #0000 wool brush to remove any of the leftover grease buildup. Once it has been scrubbed well, rinse it off completely with water.

STEP #3
With your grill rinsed, give one final sponge wash with dish detergent to fully clean the BBQ. Rinse fully and let dry before putting the grill away.

That’s it, enjoy.

I don't understand any of this. It goes against everything I have been taught. Why would you "clean" away everything you have worked so hard for? This is the seasoning. Are you going to show us how to sand blast our cast iron skillets next?

Hello. I'm totally new to grilling.
So, you let your grill go 2 years without cleaning. My question is, doesn't the grill get invaded by all sorts of insects and pests due to all the drippings and grease? Also, doesn't the buildup affect the smoke flavor when you put on the lid to smoke? How about cleaning the lid? How often do we need to clean the whole rig?

Hm. So all that work and he replaced the grate? I was wondering how people got a brand new look on a grate w/ just some soap and steel wool. Looks like the answer is…drum roll…they don't.
