Response from the first web season of BBQ with Franklin was smoking and we’ve been getting messages every day asking for new videos. We want to deliver them as soon as we can, so money raised during this campaign will go directly to the finishing costs and post-production of the second series.

I understand the need for funding as it is a local PBS station that has produced the series and will continue to do so only with the help of public donations. Even though YouTube will most definitely slap an ad on your videos and give you royalties based on views I can understand the need for funding NOW not later. You just could have done a better job asking, not teasing an already finished video over our heads just to whet our appetite. I better see this video as soon as you hit $10,000 which should be very soon. Make it right Team BBQwF, I expect nothing but the best from now on. Good luck.

Why are so many people mad that he is asking for donations? Is it so outrageous to think that he doesn't want to take money out of HIS pocket to give US free videos? This isn't some guy recording a video on his cell phone. These are professional quality videos being recorded in a studio.
Your videos were super helpful and basically taught me how to BBQ/smoke various meats. I love that you are making more videos, and I just donated to your IndieGoGo as a thanks for your past, and future work. So thanks! Ignore the haters.

"Team BBQwithFranklin", KLRU, and whatever else you go by, why don't you just take this video down? Without Aaron you don't have a video series, and the numbskulls on here can't seem to comprehend that a TV station is behind the request for money, not Aaron. He is getting thrown under the bus here with people flat out accusing him of panhandling and one especially clueless poster claiming he'll never again darken the door of Franklin BBQ. You are smirching his awesome reputation and essentially hurting his business by doing this fundraising thing, which, in all honestly, does come off as quite cheap and greedy. Figure out a way, but don't hurt Aaron in the process.
To all the rest of you haters, use the brain the good Lord gave you and realize that Aaron is doing and saying the things he was hired to do and say by this KLRU outfit. He's not panhandling for extra pocket money. Don't throw the poor guy under the bus. If you watch the videos you must appreciate them, so don't turn around and hate on the guy for sharing his knowledge with you, even if he earns a little for his time and effort. This guy puts in an unbelievable amount of time managing his own Q joint. How he finds time to share his knowledge with the world is beyond me.
Sorry to say if you woude add onther paymant client to your Donation Projekt it woude rais quicker. not everyone has Credit cards. most comemd Paymand methode in Europe is Paypal or Klick and Buy, Paysavecard,Giropay or Moenybooker. So dear BBQwithFranklin make a way that People without creditcard can supp.your Projekt.
The only way I'll even think of donating is if you write me into a contract where I get a % of youtube revenue. You guys are crazy.
I love the Mr Rogers connection, simply classic! I am simply amazed that the Food Channel hasn't picked you up and turned you into a star. Your sense of humor is awesome, and you are a great teacher and very charismatic, charming and engaging person to watch as well as entertaining.
All the folks criticizing Aaron for the crowd funding is puzzling to me. First, every one has a right to earn a buck in this country. Second, have you ever watched Aaron, he does not strike me as a greedy guy just someone passionate about his craft and wants to share it with others. "All the TV Money"???? He is on DestinationHD not a cast member of the Big Bang Theory…. Aaron, keep it up, you are teaching a lot of us novices how to make great BBQ!

Aaron Franklin seems to be a sincere, good guy. He is my role model as a pit master, who took a camper and a smoker in a parking lot to now national fame.
I encourage you to keep doing what you are doing, and not listen to the negative things said.

The recipes you share on here are pretty generic, as in the same information in every other BBQ video on YouTube…. maybe before asking for money you should show us your product (as in the recipes you are willing to share) are better than what else is freely available.
Lots of competition winning BBQ is on YouTube for free already. If salt/pepper/garlic was all that was needed for standinaline6hoursBBQ, competitors would be winning with that too.

Well I just decided never to return to Franklins. What a jackass asking for donations to release already filmed footage to YouTube. This is dirty internet begging. KLRU already has funded and filmed, so air it there. From now on I will refer everyone I know to Blacks new Barton springs location. Better meat and fewer hipsters anyways!
