People are being dicks in the comments. This IS the authentic sauce recipe. I will point out however you should warm the sauce first and then add in cold butter. It creates an emulsion where the two are less likely to split. Try to not boil it either. More likely to split.

Im from Rochester NY (hour away from Buffalo. Our wings are just as good) and Id do the same thing but use Anchor Bar's wing sauce instead. Its so much better than frank's

Try adding 1 cup of honey, 1/4 cup of corn syrup. Bring to a boil then thicken the sauce with 1/4 cup water mixed with a heaping spoon full of corn starch (stir as you add slowly). Sauce should be much thicker now. If not add a little more water/corn starch mixture. After it cools enough to where steam isn't coming off, add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Trust me. Best. Wing. Sauce. Ever. I smoke my wings for 2 hours, then crisp them up in the oven at 400 for about 10 or so min. Wings are now my most favorite meat to smoke. I also preseason my wings with many different spices before smoking them. You get many different flavors in the end. So stinking good!
