The package design screams ice popsticles.
Well in the Netherlands we have something like a corndog, it's called viandel,
basically a deepfried meat stick (frikandel) but with a layer of thin batter on it.

For a corn dog, they need to be deep fried probably for the most authentic taste. That is the way that you would by them served by a vendor, so to give them a fair shot, perhaps that should have been tried. But yes, as you say, if the dog itself is cheap, you will be able to tell the difference.
I can imagine how good they would be if they had premium beef hot dogs in them, like a Nathan’s or some of the boars head “snappers” with the natural casings………

I have to split the difference here — Ketchup on hot dogs and a bun is okay imo, ketchup on a corn dog confuses me. But then, I don't like mustard at all, so I'm just strange and picky lol

When I was little I couldn't eat corn dogs because they were too hot so I quickly dipped them in what I was drinking, either sweet tea or Dr Pepper, and it cooled it down and gave the batter a nice flavor.
