I'm from South Carolina and that's how I like my hot dogs it's the best
He forgot to mention you have to start the hot dog chili out in a cold pan.
My retired ex-marine (oops, no such thing as an EX-marine) buddy got turned on to these in the corps in Carolina and he talks about em all the time, so this is dinner tomorrow night when he visits.
Live in Kentucky now, but I can remember eating hot dogs like these when I lived in Concord, NC at the local church cookouts. Carolinians know how to eat some food.
Now that's a Hot Dog done right!!!
Wheres the DUKES mayonnaise?
You could pretty much call it a Kentucky style hot dog too. The vast majority of hot dogs found here are chili, slaw, onions and mustard topped.
Looks great!
Beating the heal out that chili lol
Wolfie, I just ran across this old video of yours.
When I first moved to Greenville, NC from GA back in 1996, I stopped by a hot dog place and got a sack full of chili dogs.
I got home to find that I had buns, and chili ! That's it !
I stopped by a couple days later, and complained.
I was told that if I wanted chili hot dogs, then I should have asked for them. Stupid me, I ordered chili dogs.
Apparently there IS a difference !
I was born and raised in New York State, in 2009 I moved to Clifton Forge, Virginia where I had my first Slaw Dog which they call them there in Virginia, they are really good and when you say they're the best hotdog you'll ever have, your not kidding. I had moved back north to North-Central Pennsylvania and started making them for people here and they absolutely love them, as here in the north you don't here of Carolina/Slaw Dogs like you do down south, here it's a hot dog with sour croute which is just nasty. In the comment below, mustard is optional as in Clifton Forge, VA they made it both ways with or without mustard. Either way they're delicious.
I love most of your videos but, a Carolina dog has mustard, chilly, onions and home made slaw and lots of black pepper on top.
Born and raised in NC! Moved to Dallas, TX in 1998. I have to travel all the way back to NC in order to get a good hotdog. God bless Texas, but they sure don't know much about making a good hotdog. When I moved to Texas I made the mistake of asking for a hotdog "all the way"…they had zero clue as to what I meant, lol. I miss my Carolina, ALL THE WAY, hotdogs! Thanks for the video! 🙂
Make it that way with Bright Leaf hot dogs and you'll have a 100 % legit Carolina dog 😉
Man those look great I want to make em for the super bowl, can i get that cole slaw recipe though?
looks good but i need some fresh chopped onions on mine and you forgot the mustard
You better be drinking those bad boys down with some Cheerwine
I love your videos! I'm originally from North Carolina, thanks for sharing a delicious food that reminds me of home. 🙂
thanks so much for this recipe been looking for a good one to can . Now this is the kind I grew up on !
Yes sir. Good eatin' right there.
You got it all right except one thing .Carolina Red Hot Dogs like Jesse Jones and Bright Leaf are the dog of choice in N.C.. Nothing wrong with the Hebrew National Dog but in the South Red Dogs are the norm like Texas Pete and Dukes Mayonnaise ..Great Video !
i've never seen a hot dog like that before. good idea with the slaw on top.
Looks great, Larry! If you don't mind, what is your favorite hot dog chili recipe that you've done? Thanks! — BT
looks good! 🙂
mmmmmm, can't wait to try this! <3
1, 2.3 and Bob's your Uncle! Seems easy!
cole slaw has to be on side. It makes it too mushy!
