Cooking for my nephews wedding reception and this sauce will be on the table as well as a vinegar based sauce for the pulled pork. Planning on a 18 hour cook on the brisket at 245F with the last four hours allowing the fire to die down on its own. Will be around 125F when I take them off.
this is the best and simplest bbq sauce i found
Made this sauce and it is great!! Have used it on chicken breast and burgers and it is divine!!! Ribs are next 🙂
Just made the sauce… after it’s done, would anyone recommend blending the finished sauce to make it smooth?
dude looks like a muppet
Nice job on sauce and enya!
This sauce is ribs video bbq sauce?
Why does it matter if the sugar is lightly packed if you're weighing it…? lol
Bad sauce? But all pit masters copy Franklin. Lol!!!
Anyone tried this recipe?
Replaced the but with ghee to avoid the butter burn taste( I'm sure I could of used half butter and half ghee to avoid that also) add a little more of everything that wasn't butter (or ghee) and 4 cloves of pressed garlic. Came out better than when I followed the recipe
I dig Aaron Franklin. I use his methods for smoking and he's great, but this sauce is horrible tasting. Way too much butter and onion. Not really even a BBQ sauce in my opinion. I tossed it. Couldn't even pretend to like it. I don't think he really serves OR eats this himself. I make my own sauce, sweet and vinegary but never any butter.
I was excited to try this, and did this weekend. Sorry, it was legit disgusting. You have to LOVE vinegar smell and taste to even theoretically enjoy this. And if you refrigerate, the butter separates creates a nasty layer above all the nasty vinegar. Just absolutely horrible!
I tried this basic concept for my sauce; came out good.
Don't make this its no good
Franklin, this is a bullshit sauce!
So, just made this sauce excatly how he said, and was a little disappointed. strange taste. would definitely not use a butter base again. tried his recipe from his book as well and is way to vinegary.
Spent the first 22 years of my life growing up in TX and I never remember there being chunked onions in BBQ sauce from the restaurants in Houston. That was 15 years ago. It was all a slightly spicy, fairly thin liquid with course black pepper visible. Not very sweet and not very vinegary as I recall. I'm not sure if this sauce is pureed at the end or not. I would still try it I suppose.
this sauce is fucking awful, i want to recreate Rudys sauce
he's the guy in the movie CHEF?! WOAAAH
Never had a chance to go to Texas but have huge respect for chef Aaron just recently found him online Wow /respect.
Butter?? LOL. no…
I made this to accompany a brisket I smoked this weekend. Visiting the in-laws in South Africa (I'm Australian). They wanted me to let you know it was 'baie lekker sous'! That's a good thing I'm told. Heading to Austin via Colorado in August, pop the kettle on coz I'll be in for lunch! 🙂
hahah this guy is awesome
No honey ???
Do not waste your time and ingredients making this recipe. It is horrible, no way this is what he makes in the restaurant. Just a strong onion and butter taste with a tomato kick. No way a BBQ sauce. His other smoking video tips are useful but this video is not.
Franklin : desire
make a Cinder for bbq ribs but be large
commercial texas style, Where can I get a drawing.Thank You Jaime / Puerto Rico
This taste like spaghetti sauce, it doesn't taste like bbq sauce?
instead of lemon. can i use calamansi?
Good BBQ doesn't need sauce
I rather watch bbq pit boys now.
could you put paprika or garam masala in place of chilly powder?
1/4 the butter, 1/2 the vinegar, 2 x the sugar, and as 1 commented trade out the onion for onion powder.
THIS IS NOT THE SAUCE HE MAKES AT THE RESTARUANT. I HAVE BEEN THERE SEVERAL TIMES. 1ST OF ALL, 1/2 LB OF BUTTER WILL NEVER MIX TOGETHER, THIS IS A BOGUS SAUCE GUYS. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF BBQ SAUCE WITH BUTTER…… I WASTED SOME REALLY GOOD INGREDIENTS MAKING THIS, NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I WOULDN'T SHARE MY REAL RECIPE EITHER, BUT WHY THIS MIXTURE??? LIKE SOMEONE ELSE COMMENTED, IT TASTE LIKE SPAGHETTIO'S
Skip the butter and replace the onions with a tsp of onion powder instead, and you've got a good starting point for a basic ketchup BBQ sauce that you can tweak to suit your taste.
Thanks for the upload.
This sauces flavor is overpowered by ketchup
Curious why this sauce recipe doesn't match the "regular barbecue sauce" recipe found in the Franklin BBQ cookbook? Which sauce is served in the restaurant – the butter/onion version found in the video or the non-onion/butter version in the cookbook?
Hey Franklin great video but i was wondering if this sauce is the sweet sauce off the table from your bbq restaurant and from your pork ribs video?? Hope to hear from you soon and can't wait to see more of your videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Franklin!
Can I ask You?
After ketchup, what was putting in the pot? Can U tell me for understand..
Thank you so much..
