Chef-Mate is a restaurant branded line of canned entrees designed for food service. It was created by Carnation Company (who was purchased by Nestle in 1987). The Chef-Mate line has an industry leading patented cooking proc ess that allows them to make excellent products. I worked for Carnation for 10 years in Sales, and Management at the time Nestle bought us, Chef-Mate Chili Con Carne with Beans was the No. 1 brand of canned chili sold in America!! In an LA Times Chili cook off in 1975, the restaurant that came in first place out of 100 entrants was using Chef-Mate and doctoring it up a little. I haven't eaten it is decades, but I know from experiences and other ex-Carnation associates that some of the former Carnation products have been cheapened down to increase profits, since Nestle has owned the company. Chef-Mate is still a superior product line!

We had a older guy every morning would try to empty a shaker of pepper on his BG. But he came in after I got hired and he told the manager, without putting any on it, "Holy crap, now that's how much pepper should be in the gravy,". And I never let or BnG customers down after that cause I knew how much black pepper was the perfect amount from then on. I got a lot of compliments and for a while I was the Breakfast man and I was only 19. That was 22 years ago but I still remember feeling good about knowing how to cook cause my Mom taught me and she was a great cook. Especially when it came to rustic home cooked food. Weather is was Home made COffee cake cinnamon rolls brownies burgers or Frijoles and Beans old style I remember it all.
